I have to admit I am a clean freak and everything has to be in its place. So when I found out I was pregnant my family and friends were quick to say that the house will be turned upside down. Toys everywhere, chocolate fingers on the walls. This initially sent me spiralling as I thought Why Does It!???
The thought of a child or animal take over the beautiful sanctuary my husband and I created, scared me.
So a few house rules and thoughtful decorating is all that it needed.
👫🐶 Use paint with a stain guard incorporated (this will allow easy wipe down)
👫🐶 Use laminate or tiles in heavy soiled areas
👫🐶 Use plastic table cloths to cover your favourite furniture from paint spills.
👫🐶 Have segregated areas for toys(this will stop them spreading all over the house)
👫🐶 Tidy up at the end of a day(this will help you to relax)
👫🐶 Have a dedicated wash area to clean those muddy paws( or use a portable bath in the garden)
👫🐶 Incorpoarate animal crates within your furniture(this will save space)
👫🐶 Use animal beds that can be adapted to your room scheme.(old suitcases)
👫🐶 Finding fold down furniture can be essential if you only have a small space(see change table)
👫🐶 Use stair gates to segregate areas you don’t want children or animals to use.
👫🐶 Use blinds instead of curtains(as you don’t want kids swinging of them or dogs chewing on them)
👫🐶 Choose furniture with rounded edges(coffee tables) alternatively use edging protectors.
👫🐶 Don’t overdo it with furnishings, if you like a lot of objects display them on shelves.
Here are a few ideas that may help.
